Change

It has been a while since my last blog, due to the fact that I have been so sick. I have had a terrible, awful, no good, very bad monster of a virus that I have been battling for 2.5 weeks now! Finally today I was able to get out of the house and feel like a normal person, PTL!!!
I must give credit where credit is due by saying that my Fiance has truly been amazing these last few weeks! I have sent him to Walgreen's, CVS, Wal-mart, Target and basically any store that sales medicine, Popsicles and soup! He has showed me what an amazing husband and partner he will make and I could not be happier to be spending my life with him! Let's just say I owe him big time!!! (Thank goodness he does not get sick very often!!) haha
Ok, so on to more important matters... you are probably wondering why the title of this blog is called "change". Well, change is exactly what is going on in my life right now and I could not be more excited about it. For the past ten months I have been working in an office for an aviation company that my dad introduced to me when I was very desperate for a job. Let me just say I am VERY thankful to this company for taking a chance on me even though all my work experience was with children and my college degree is in elementary education. Going into this job was difficult for me, because I am so passionate about teaching and working with children. I knew that it would be a difficult transition for me. Over the past ten months I have been working in inside sales, I have tried to find enjoyment in the work that I was doing but I just could not get the spark that I wanted. A few weeks ago I made the decision to look for something I could be more passionate about, and after discussing it with Sawyer, I decided that I wanted to be a full-time nanny. To some this may sound silly, why would I want to sit around all day caring for someone else's kid?! Well, to me it is such an amazing and rewarding job to help raise and teach a child. To start this process I decided to use a site dedicated to finding families home help, I created a profile and was on my way. I really wanted to find a family that had an infant, I just feel that it is easier to start out with a child when they are very young, so they can be comfortable with me. Shortly after creating my profile I found a family that I was interested in speaking to, I got in touch with them and went on an interview shortly after. One interview turned into two, and a second interview turned into a working interview, and finally after what seemed like a very long journey, I was offered the position. I understood completely why the parents were so careful and selective during this process. I will be the person responsible for the most precious gift of their life...for this, you can never be to careful! I am beyond excited to be staring down this new path and working with such a great family and their precious newborn son. I feel like God had a hand in this whole situation and the timing is really perfect. I have had to be patient and just let everything play out...which is difficult for me, but it is worth it now.
I am looking forward to my changes and cant wait to see how it all turns out!!
If you have any advice for me, please share...especially my fellow nanny pals!!!

Engagement Party Top 10

First off I just have to say, I am sooooo beyond blessed with an amazing family and soon to be extended family (my in-laws). Our engagement party was better than I ever imagined, we did not have any casualties...except maybe a cocktail glass or two. Everyone looked beautiful & handsome, of course and it was so wonderful to see faces that I have not seen in a while!! Sawyer and I are super excited to be sharing this wonderful time of our life with the people that love us most!!! So thank you to our STELLER Family and Friends, we love y'all!!
So, after the party I got really, really sick! I was literally in bed from Saturday night (yes, I left my OWN party early) until this morning...I would not wish my illness on ANYONE!!! The only positive was I got to lie in bed and eat the leftover cupcakes and petit-fours from the party....which definitely did not help with the muffin top :-( I also got to look at pictures and such from the party!! I have so many special moments from the party, but I wanted to share my top 10 with the bloggy-world...mainly so I won’t forget them!!

1. My mother’s excitement the day before and the day of the party ( I had to remind her several times that this was not the Wedding, only the first official-post engagement gathering, and that there would be many more!)
2. Seeing all the many bright faces that endured the rain and cold to come celebrate with Sawyer and I.
3. The yummy, much anticipated "Tiffany box" petit-fours and cupcakes...they did not disappoint!!
4. The "candy station"- it looked so good and was so much fun!!
5. All of the beautifully set up tables and decor that my wonderful "Aunt Karen" and future sis-in-law Sarah worked so hard on!!
6. Receiving the beautiful Tiffany's Gondola charm from Karen and Jerry as a keepsake and reminder of how Sawyer proposed to me....It was very thoughtful and sooo meaningful!!
7. Receiving a very special heirloom- a ceramic pitcher that my Grandfather had painted in 1965, from my Granny! I will always think of my wonderful Grandpa every time I see it.
8. Listening to my Father give a speech about how Sawyer asked him for my hand in marriage! Loved hearing this story :-)
9. Having my three "in-town" Bridesmaids with me to celebrate, Love these women!!!
10. Having the LOVE OF MY LIFE by my side the entire night!!!

Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the event.

LOVE!!

TGIF

So, I did not quite make it to the gym last night...but I did run up the escalator at Nordstrom’s, if that counts? hhmmm- muffin top-1 Blair- 0
Oh well, it's Friday-my absolute favorite day of the week!! Tonight, Fiancé and I are going to a "farewell" party for our dear friend Mindi...she is going into the Coast Guard (brave girl) we will miss her dearly!
Fiancé, Mindi, Layla and I @ Katy Trail Ice House

Tomorrow is an even more exciting day!!! (No offense, Mindi) Fiancé and I are having an Engagement party with close family and the bridal party :0) I am excited, but I am losing my voice and starting to sound like a man...so I am really hoping that the hot tea I picked up on my lunch break will start to help!!
SO looking forward to seeing all of my beautiful Bridmaids in the same room. except two-one lives in New York and the other in Germany...so they aren’t gonna make it-obvs. More about my bridal party on another date though. I need to go nurse my sore throat and try to get in a NAP before all of the festivities!!!
Happy Weekend

Here Goes Nothin...

Who would have thought that there would be so much pressure on the FIRST blog post...I mean, it was hard enough for me to get a "customized template". I am not exactly tech savvy...but I am going to give this whole "new generation diary" a go.
Guess I could start out by introducing myself...I am Blair, I am a twenty-somethingish, worry-wart/shopaholic/hopeless romantic who is completely and totally in love with a yorkie named Layla...ohhhh & my wonderful fiancé, Sawyer...I will call him Fiancé for now, because I love saying it!
Yes, I am NEWLY engaged...(how could you tell) so a lot of my posts in the near future will be about wedding planning and all the fun...and not so fun stuff that comes along with it. I met Fiancé at a bar (yes a bar) in Dallas, and we have been literally attached at the hip ever since. He proposed 8 months after we met, and that was about 7 months too long to wait...I do believe in love at first sight...and I do believe in soul mates. He is my person and I truly can't imagine life without him.
Layla....my second-one true love...is our one year old yorkie. She brings me SO much joy, I think the best part of having her is when I get home from work she wags her tiny tail and jumps up with so much joy, just to see me....I am basically a superstar in her book, it's the BEST!!!
Anyhow, back to me... other than being a little crazy, I am basically your average girl. (Oh wait, every girl is a little crazy....sorry but we are) I love to shop; in fact it's kind of a problem! One of my bestest friends, Theresa, I will call her T, always says "we are really bad at being poor" it's true...but at least we look for good bargains...or at least T does :-/ She has tried to get me shop at TJ Maxx, but the only success I have had at that store is my $10 yoga mat...which I was really proud of, btw!! Besides shopping, I have recently picked up yoga (hence the reason for the yoga mat) and other activities to help me lose my muffin top before the wedding. It would probably help if I actually attended these classes on the regular though... I often ask Fiancé why I am not seeing results, his reply is "when was the last time you went to your classes?" my reply: " ummmmm, about that..." haha...I WILL GET BETTER....next week!
So, that is another side note about me...I enjoy procrastination, I think it is exciting to wait until the last minute to do things! The way I see it, I can put this gym stuff off until at least June? Right? ughhhh I really should start now...
Ok, I am going to end on that...maybe I will hit up the gym TONIGHT! We will see
xoxo
